Hey Everybody,
Yesterday I went out to run errands for about three hours. I came back and found my front door kicked in. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif They took my stereo equipment and some other stuff. I would take some pictures but they took my digital camera too. What really chaps my hide though is that they took all my kids movies.
Now, I know you guys are the most intelligent group out there so I'm gonna ask y'all this question.
Does anybody out there have any info or contacts on Disney movies that are in the vault? Some of my kids most favorites are in there and wont be available for years. I searched the web and came up with zilch. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif again. I'm not sure what all is in the vault and when it's slated to be released. I just know that I will have to do some more leg work at the resale and pawn shops. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I hate this disney vault thing is it really stupid or is it just me?
The Police said "It's just that time of year". Break ins go up at Christmas time. Be careful out there, I would hate for this to happen to y'all.

BTW, Happy Holidays

Sorry I don't have any answers to your question, and I'm sorry to hear about the burglary, but what the police told you was right. It used to be pretty heartbreaking working the streets in December because the burglars do their Christmas shopping, too, and usually at the homes that can least afford the loss. I'm afraid many kids had little or no Christmas as a result.

One of the things I really did like was when Dallas started the "Santa Cops" program and it's continued now for many years. All the officers have a form they can fill out and send in when they encounter a family that is unlikely to have much, if anything, for Christmas, whether because of a burglary or theft or for other reasons. Officers donate cash and a lot of businesses donate cash and/or products and a committee of officers make up a Christmas package for those families that usually includes toys for the kids, clothing, ingredients for a Christmas dinner, etc. and the packages are delivered a day or two before Christmas by uniformed officers who volunteer for the job. Just one of my favorite programs.

Sorry to hear about this. Did the police say that they may have any clues as to who might have done this? Hope the scum bags are caught and do some time and not just get a slap on the wrist. I've no idea about the Disney vault. Good luck and make the most of your holidays. Gerard

You might give E-Bay a try, the wife has always gotten good results with movies there. DVD's VHS dosent matter they got alot in there, even some of the older 50's 60's movies. As far as whats in the Disney fault I wouldnt have a clue whats in there, your discription is vague as far as that goes.

Gerardc,
The police do have some leads. They were watching these guys in a red truck with a white freezer in the back. They were selling meat out of it. I supposed the meat was in case you had a dog in the house. These guys came to my house about three weeks ago apparently casing the house. I didn't buy any meat and never let them in the house. The guy was dressed in a proffesional manner and was clean cut. I got rid of him pretty quickly.
The police also dusted for prints and I think they got a few plus they got two shoe marks off my door. That finger print dust is really neat stuff, but it is murder to clean up. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Bird,
That sounds like a really neat setup in Big D. I think they have the same set up in Austin too but I am out of that jurisdiction. Fortunately the gifts that we bought for the kids were in hiding. (Not that you really need to hide them from a 1 and 2 year old.) My wife and I are just practicing the hiding. Apparently we did a pretty good job. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Grumpa,
That's a good idea. I will see what I can find there. As for the vault, I too don't know what is in there. I'm hoping for a web site or someone who knows that can tell me. I looked but it would seem Disney keeps these things a secret.

Why don't you post a list of the titles you're having trouble finding? Chances are some of our TBN'ers might know where to find some of them. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Sorry to hear of the break-in.

I don't understand about the 'vault' and what that has to do with the break-in? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Are the movies they stole from the 'vault' or do you have to go to the 'vault' to get them back?
Do movies from Disney have any street value above the few bucks they sell for at the video stores?
Bring me up to speed, if you would, please. Maybe I have something of value that might be stolen.

Beenthere,
When Disney puts a movie out of circulation and you can't buy it, it is in what Disney calls "The Vault". Typically these movies are in the vault for ten or so years. Disney will not tell you which movies are currently in the vault as far as I know.
The best I can find is a rumor mill on the web that says Snow White and Monsters Inc. I haven't started to replace any movies yet ,but I dont want to waste a lot of time looking for a movie that is not available. Sometimes the store is just out and when you ask the sales person if it's in the vault they almost always say "I don't know",then you go back later and there it is. I can't believe this info is a secret. This seems to be bad business but Disney does it for the almighty dollar.
The Vaulted movies can sell for as much as 200.00 for the more rare ones. Most only sell for around 30.00 to 40.00 on E-bay so I am told. I haven't looked yet but am getting around to it soon.
Movies I haven't been able to find in the past are : 101 Dalmations,Snow White, and Lilo and Stitch. I think there are more from the kids collection but am not sure.
I think it's pretty low to steal from little children.
I hope this helps clear it up for you.
