re post: PTO Shaft Keeps Falling Off
Well folks. I thank you all for your input but it turns out that the shaft was not properly machined. The grooves that the ball bearings snap into were not deep enough. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
My dealer, Greg Mouser, Kubota Central, Clare, MI, called me Monday just after lunch. He got the fax I sent on Sunday night as soon as he came in the door on Monday. He contacted Land Pride and confirmed the problem before he called me.
They put a man in a pickup with a die grinder and he drove the 100 miles to my place and fixed it right there in the pole barn. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif He was gone by the time I got home from work so I never got to thank him. I just jumped on the tractor and started mowing. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
As for using the new mower... I finished up mowing just as it was getting dark. Was doing the last of it more by feel than anything else. Was pleasantly surprised that it looked pretty good in the daylight the this morning. The wife says she didn't noticed any plants or shrubs missing.
I learned a couple of things.
First. There is NO substitute for good customer service. I will drive right by another dealer to get to somebody who will treat their customers right. These folks gave me a great price on the tractor and I sure couldn't ask for better service. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Second. Mowing with a 60" rear finish mower is a whole new game. I never dreamed I could slide it back under trees and bushes like that. Not much trimming left to do with the push mower. I just have to get used to the fact that turning right swings the deck left. I can see it will come in very handy once I get the hang of it, I just hope the wife doesn't miss those hostas. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
