Steve Carver tells me the check and snowchains arrived in NC today. Shipment was originally scheduled for Monday, but he MAY be able to ship tomorrow (Friday). Just in case, I took the little 1750 down the road and pushed the snow back so the trucker has a place to park. Picked up the shattered remains of my mailbox while I was at it; the town snowplow driver is a classic example of inbreeding.

The weather looks okay for a Sunday or Monday delivery. There's a dry spot in the garage for the 3010 when it arrives, the 1750 is in the want ads looking for a new home, and here I sit chewing my nails wanting the tractor to be here NOW!

Hi Pete,
As a fellow Vermonter (import, not home grown), can I ask you how much Carver saved you over Walt in Montpelior or Gary in Essex? When I bought, Gary saved me $500 over Carver on my B2710.
Also, congrats on your 3010, awsome machine!!!

Apples and oranges, since the one I bought from Steve was a program tractor. You don't find those in Vermont unless they have 5000+ hours on them.

I like Walt, and bought my first tractor from him. Don't care much for his maintenance dept, though. My B1750, which had "been gone over with a fine toothed comb" before I bought it, had an enormous rodent nest in the air cleaner when I got it home.

At any rate, Steve's tractor prices were very competitive, and when you look at the package price with new implements there was no comparison at all.

Now if I could just get my hands on that new Bota!!!

From the sound of it you're pretty close by. Where in Vermont are you? And are you interested in a B1750HSD 4WD with all the trimmings? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Have you check to see if your town highway department must replace your mailbox, for over here any damages the highway must replace mailboxes.

Easy on the nails and coffee while waiting, and I hope you get a knock upon your door this afternoon saying...I have a Kubota for gentleman name Pete. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Not this afternoon!!! It takes a while to drive all that way. Besides, it was a VERY icy drive to work this morning with all the sleet coming down. I'm hoping for Monday, and would be delighted if it came on Sunday.

Freight was about 75% of what taxes would have been.

Hi Pete,
I'm in Williston. Sorry, can't say I'm interested in another tractor sized like my 2710. That 3010 on the other hand...
Got a rake or back blade that's too small for the 3010??

Didn't factor in the savings of shipping vs tax, but don't spread it around too much. VT thinks we should list all our "mail order" purchases to pay taxes on them.

I suspect Steve Carver's prices are in general the best around. They'd have to be since he can't just drive over and fix my toy like Gary can. But Gary's prices are fantastic as well, as is the service dept. Mark over there has talked me thru a bunch of self maintanance and will even loan me tools. Heck, when I called Walt with the quote Gary gave me, he told me to buy it. So I did. Actually left work to put down the deposit in case Gary changed his mind!

The more time I spend looking over Steve Carver's web site, the more I respect the guy. Knowlegable, reasonable, and a good business man. I'm still loyal to Gary, but if we move and I step up to an L, I may give Steve a ring. Or Art White in NY, he seems to be another good egg among the kubota dealers who'll ship a tractor.

Enjoy your tractor,
Todd

Speaking of Steve Carvers Web site....

His section of questions and answers on tractors is very very nice. Lots of data in a format that is understandable by us newbie's to the world of tractors. Naturally, it is slanted to Kubota's strengths a wee bit. But not very much.

Just for the record, I did not buy from Carver. With shipping, he was going to be a bit higher than my local dealer and he (Steve) recommended that I not buy from him.
