OK so don't look at the pic yet ...

I have been telling my wife for 2 weeks that I ordered some weights for the back of my 2 1/2 week old GC1723E to help hold it down for the hill we live on. I told her it was a big box being shipped. I told her at one point it was several hundred pounds. We'll get back to that. I know it was about to ship so I said a few days ago it should arrive by this weekend. Note: It's the mid level Heavy Hitch with 480 pounds of suitcase weights and its actually being shipped to Fastenal.

I get home tonight, start to head to the workshop to get the tractor out to work on the yard before rain tomorrow, trying to get it graded and seeded. On the way out she says "Oh, you got a box upstairs." I figure that I know what it is (won't spoil the surprise....keep reading) and say, "Ok, thanks!"

I go out, work til dark, come in, say hello, go upstairs to main level, get the box, head back down the stairs and say "Yep, I really wish I had these tonight, they'd make it a lot easier!" as I am carrying the box into the room. She says, "Oh, is that your weights?"

I had to stop dead in my tracks. Recall, she brought the box in from the porch.

Now, let me say she's very smart, 4.0 grad from Georgia, CPA and CFP, made partner barely past 30, does both tax and audit work. But I am kind of wondering if she heard me tell her twice in the past 2 weeks that it was over 500 pounds coming.

I said, "Ah, no.....it's these."

You have to see the box now.

We then discussed how these would have been helpful tonight, and reminded her how heavy the weights are and that they are coming by a pallet, and then I went for a shower just kind of shaking my head.

And here is the actual hitch and weights. I only had a chance to run it around the yard before rain threatened but it feels much more stable. I'll be moving more dirt within the hour so we'll know for sure shortly.

Nice, wouldn't they be move effective all on the backside (heavier) ?

Probably, yes, due to leverage effect. Actually, this gives me a more clearance when walking around it in the shed. I messed up my knee pretty good at Christmas fighting a pit bull trying to kill my dog. I won the war, but my knee lost the battle. Anything I can do to prevent walking into something immovable is still pretty important. I bought the different sizes so I could try out different weights for mowing, moving dirt, moving firewood, grading the yard, and picking up the literally hundreds of stones and rocks in the yard before I lay new dirt on top.
