i have a nice ford 4000 trisycle front, 4 cylinder gas. the governers don't seem to work right. where on the internet can i find out whats inside one and howhard is it to rebuild?

As far as your question on the governor, I don't know anything about the one on your tractor, but here're a couple of photos of the governor on my 1951 Minneapolis Moline BF tractor.

There's not much to it. It's driven off the timing gear on the cam shaft. There are 4 steel balls (weights) that move radially outward as the engine speed increases. This causes a linear motion along the shaft of the governor that's resisted by the spring on the linkage to the carburetor throttle.



I think this style governor is used on the Ford 8N.

found what i was looking for at the new holland parts site. looks like a simple design, but hard to get to. think i'll try to adjust it a lil bit a see what happens.
