I'm looking at getting a rear grader blade for my 1951 8n. How big can it handle? I would like to get a 6'. I was just as my dealer he was suggesting that I should get a 5'. I'm somewhat suspect since he was out of 6' blades but had plently of 5'.
I'm in the middle of building a new house and would like to use it for keeping the driveway in shape and some light landscape leveling.

If we are talking box blade.. 5' If angle grader blade 6' is fine. I've seen 7' on snow.

Keep in mind that a 6' blade angled is going to have a profile for tire cover like a 5'.. etc.

I am looking at a grader blade. I was pretty sure a 6' would be fine. Thanks.

SoundGuy is correct. If your pulling heavy snow the angle will be so far that you will need to have the tractor some what off the drive to clear the edge. On the other hand, when you do gravel you don't want it too wide because you don't want to push the gravel off the road. I wish I had a 6' for gravel and a 7or 8' for snow.

So you being in the south, go with the 6'

Thanks for all the advice. I picked up a 6' KK at the local Orscheln's. Its done a great job keeping the driveway in shape after all worker, concrete and gravel trucks have rutted it up.

Well - I have an 8' on mine! Worked pretty good on the one 8" snow we had this year. I got it cheap ($35) at an auction 3-4 years ago. It works great for gravel and I have used it to level a shed site and other grading around here. I 'd maybe trade for a 6' , but doubt I would find one cheap enough.

I've been happy with the 6' footer I got. In your case $35 for a blade of any size is a steal right now. I wish I would have gotten into this a few years back when steel was cheaper, I think that I'd have a few more attachments!

I just bought a 7' for my new KAMA 454. It adjusts side to side, plan tp attach hydro unit to do do that. I think I might add hydro cyc for angle too.

Blade was $275
