Yeah, it's a little late now I didn't think it would only be a two day project initially. There are only two positions for them though 3" apart, so I made one about 1/4" above level and when down they will go 2 3/4" deep.

I have some hard face rod and like that idea vs replacing skids.

Even if you still have to replace them, adding welds now will prolong their life, and can be done later to even prolong the life of the skids. The skids on mine are 3/4 inch thick because I had the material on hand, and aren't wearing as fast as I thought they would, so I haven't needed to build them back up.
