Tractor
Kubota Grand L3540
Took delivery of my L3540HSTC-3 last Wednesday and ive had this noise under the floor board that I can here and feel with my feet, to me it sounds like air in the hydraulic system and is causing this skipping sound. I cant feel it in the hst peddal or the loader joy stick and the trans dosent skip or do anything funny.
Dealer came to check it out and all he said was just put some more hours on it and lets see what happens, he dosent think i has air trapped in the hydraulic system any where.
Has anyone else had somthing like this going on with your tractor?

I have an L3540HSTC that has just turned to 100 hours on the run meter. On my tractor I get a funny hydraulic sound from under the tractor on initial startup only and it goes away after about 15 seconds or so. I have also noticed some noise that fluctuates in pitch when I'm outside the tractor and I can hear the hydraulics better.
Maybe you could go to the dealer and have them start another L3540 to get an idea if its just a normal sound or if yours is drastically different for some reason. I did just that on mine when I had concerns about my steering and it sure helped me put my mind at ease. Good luck and I'm sure you will love that tractor once you iron out the bugs if any.

They have a 5740 on the lot athat I drove a couple times and it wasnt making any weird noises even at cold start up it was quiet as a mouse, I know its a bigger tractor but it's the only L series cab tractor they have there. They had to get mine from their other dealership about 45 mins away.

Mine is doing it all the time, even after ive been running it for awhile. It dosent do it when im sitting still, only when im moving and the noise dose flucuate and has a skipping sound to it.

I'm not sure what that sound would be. My tractor only has a little gear noise type sound when moving and it is relatively consistant in sound while moving. Have you tried changing various settings such as low, medium, high range and 4wheel drive on/off etc. to see if that changes anything? If you have a 2nd person available maybe you could operate the tractor with someone at a safe distance to also try to listen to the sound and pinpoint its origin. On my tractor I was getting a noise that made me nervous until by poking around I discovered it was a combination of the 3 point arms and top link holder vibrating at certain engine speeds.

I had the dealer send out the tech guy and he said he wants to see me put more hours on it to see if it gets worse. He said he could hear what I was talking about but isnt real sure where its coming from.

It dose it in all ranges cause I thought maybe it was a certain mode or range but tried them all and it still makes the noise and also it gets louder as the rpms come up.
The 3 points arms do make some noise but not enough to hear inside the cab.

Have you tried pulling the tractor in neutral see if it is something knocking against something else rather than a hydraulic or transmission issue.

Both of our Kubota cab units are very quiet.

Went out and tried that and it still did it, riding around some more I discoverd that the seat is causing the noise... BUT its not the seat itself sqeaking, when operating the the tractor the seat is pushing down on something under it and is causing the noise and I can feel it in the floor, and also when I push in the breaks when sitting still they make a loud grinding noise kinda like the same noise im having with the seat pushing on something. Something is going on cause these are not normal sounds. I operate heavy machinery for a living and ive been in many different machines with cabs on them and ive never heard anything like the sounds im getting, i know the normal engine sounds and things like that can be heard but these are not normal.

If you had air in the hydraulic system it would create a large amount of air bubbles and the hydraulics would be spongy in use.

Does this unit have a common reservoir for transmission and hydraulic system?

To me it seems like you have a control valve sticking or a relief valve pressurising and releasing constantly which would explain this.

Can you remove the floor panel in front of the seat without much of an issue?, this way you verify if there is something caught or jammed against any of the linkages.

If the flow control spools to direct the oil for the pump or pumps are mounted on top of the transmission the simple vibration from idle would transmit up through the floor if the seat mount was damaged or incorrect or if something was stuck or jammed.

The brake issue also has me wondering if they are dragging which may be likely if the brakes are electric over hydraulic internal wet disc and the parking brake is not fully released.

Sorry but I have not looked at the L units in a long time for their equipment.

I would shut it down and have them retrieve it tommorow and examine the brake system as its definetly tied into the issue with the service and park brake controls.

They should have taken the floor access cover of it has one to examine the top of the transmission while they were there.

I don't think anyone is suggesting this is normal. At least you have narrowed it down. I would give this info to my dealer and have them fix it.
