2005 L 3130 FST
I am looking at purchasing either a Grand L 3130 or a NH TC 30. I already know there are huge performance differences, my question is for my purposes is 3k price difference worth it?

I have 2 acres which the majority of is is stables with 3 maybe in the future 4 horses. I am NOT going to be running any PTO implements, except maybe a REMOTE maybe a tiller or a auger. Most of the time i will be using the FEL, a 5' box scraper and a harrow. I live in Reno/Sparks area in Nevada, so is usually pretty dry. I have a ton of rocks i am going to be initailly going to try and rip up with the teeth on the box scraper ( i know i will be losing them as fast as a shark loses teeth) and then filling and leveling with DG and then just maintaining it with the harrow. I dont give a (*&% about the cup holder and other warm and fuzzy items on the 3130, but i do like the extra 1000 lbs of mass and bigger diameter tires for putting the HP to the ground. And the much higher capacity of the loader. BUT HONESTLY would it be worth the extra 3k when the TC - 30 would probably suffice?

Input MUCH appreciated...

If you don't feel the need for the fancy gadgets on the 3130 for the additional $$. I recommend you check out the L-2800/ L-3400 and see how it compares to a TC- 30 as far as price/capacities/features your looking for. Then go from there on what machine you prefer.
My opinion..

as i mentioned those are the only options i have for the harvest returns.. even though there isnt a comparison as far as features, I just wonder if its a good investment or if i would ever need the 3130 over the TC 30

I have an L3130 with a Buhler 6' box blade. It's very solidly built and in the process of cutting a road on my property has dug up rocks of the size shown attached. After pulling some of these out of the ground without problems using both the bb and the fel, I'm no longer concerned about broken teeth or other damage to the bb. It's seemingly robust enough to take whatever punishment I can inflict on it with the tractor.

The 6' box blade covers my tracks with a few inches to spare. A 5' wouldn't. The bigger blade will save you time and work in the long run way in excess of the difference in cost.

For me, it came down to the L3400 or the TC 30. I ended up getting the L3400 gear w/ FEL for the same or a touch less than I would have had in a TC 30 gear w/FEL. The only thing the TC 30 had on the L3400, was about 200 lbs more lifting capacity. The L3400 is heavier, has aprox 5 more HP, and has a drawbar on the back. The drawbar and extra HP sold me on the L3400 more than anything else. With the TC 30, it has sort of a clevis type of drawbar mounted to the rear axle house and if you hook something to it, it would be nearly against the rear tires. I pull a wagon and other things around and I wanted a regualar drawbar and hated the TC 30 design. From tons of research, just more tractor for the money and a bigger tractor with aprox 300 lbs in weight and more HP.

I don't think you can do better for the money than a L3400. I have a 2006 model with Kubota FEL and I bought it about a month ago and have $ 14,200 in it! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am not real familiar with the TC 30, but if the 3130 is an HST I would go that route, you say you are going to be doing a lot FEL work and with the box blade, IMO the HST cannnot be beat. If they are both HST then it makes it tougher to decide, especially for 3K and the fact you don't care about the extra's.... Keep us posted.

The posted price here in tx for each is: 3130 with a 513 loader 16,200 and the tc30 with it's fel is 15000.00, for a difference of 1200. This was by phone prices. Not worth the 1200 to get the nh, to me. Maybe your kubota dealer is not giving you the best price and the nh dealer is. The 3130 is a lot more tractor on paper and in person, imho.
