Getting ready to order a hydro toplink and sidelink for my L3240. Probably going with CCM.

What cylinders are recommended? The toplink measures 21"-33.5", and CCM lists a 21"-32".

How about the sidelink? It measures 17.25"-22.5", and it measures 19.25" level. Will the 6" stroke cylinder work?

How about hoses? I have factory remotes, what would a good length be? And what diameter, 1/4"? I don't want the cylinders to move too fast, want to be able to adjust them easily.

I tried searching for a while, but could not find any post specific to the grand L series.

Thanks

I used 3/8" hose. The Prince QD coupler has a smaller outlet than the hose, so it acts as a restrictor. My tractor has 9GPM flow (approx) at the remotes and it isn't too fast for me.
I'm now in the market for a side link so I'm following all the sidelink threads closely.

I agree with slacker....I used the same setup on my 3710.....works really well. I think you are on the right track with your cylinders. I found that ebay had a nice selection of them for a good price. As far as the hoses go, I would wait until both cylinders are on the tractor then measure for the correct length. Also, I moved my manual side link to the left side of the tractor and use the hydraulic on the right side. It gives you more adjusting capabilities especially if your new side link is a bit to long like mine was. If you are going to be running a harley rake or box you are going to get spoiled with this setup!

Thanks for the replies.

Sounds like 3/8" hose is what I want. I will probably have them made up locally after the cylinders are installed.

Good idea about keeping the adjustable sidelink, I think it will work on the other side.

Another question, does anyone know what the hole diameter on the top of the sidelink is? 3/4" is my guess, but the tractor is being stored at a jobsite right now and I don't have easy access to go check.

Any other comments and/or pictures are welcomed.

I have made up my own top and side hydraulic rams for my grand L 4240 as they were not available at the time. My measurements are the same as yours. I used a 2 1/2 " bore 10" stroke for the top link -- it works perfectlly with good control for fine tuning. I used a2" bore 6" stroke on the side link, the length is good . While 90% of the time I only use the middle2-3 -4" of the ram the last inch is there if I need it. For most applications I allow about 1-2" of free play from side to side and with this I can use the full 6" range of stroke with out any binding. The 2" ram is a bit too quick so I have installed an adjustable flow restrictor to control top speed. I would use a 2 1/2" cllynder the next time.I used 1/4" hoses and they are totally adequate. My hydraulic flow is 9.5 GPM. I hope this is helpful. P.S. I have 975 hrs on the tractor and am still amazed at what it can do, and I would not be without hydraulic top and side links. I also moved the adjustable link to the left side, it allows me to readily adjust range of motion if required.

I see you asked about the hole diameter in the side link. It is a standard 3/4" cat-1 pin,I used cat-1 weld on swivels on my cylinders.

Here are a few pics of how I did mine, hope it helps.

Thanks for the info and pics. All of the information was very helpful.

I went ahead and placed my order. I'm going with a 21-32" toplink and 6" bore sidelink from CCM.

I'll post some pictures when I get them.

Update:

I recieved the cylinders last week and just installed them yesterday.

They seem to work great, can't wait to get the implements out for a test.

Here are some pictures

And this one just shows the factory remote levers; expensive but they look good.
