Kubota Grand L3240
priced a L3700SU today for $19,200 before tax and no implements. They have a Grand L3240 with 140 hours, GST transmission and 6 ft (forgot brand) rotary cutter for $17,500. There is no tax on the used one. Tax is 7.75 percent here. The L3240 is a heavier tractor and can lift 1200 lbs more with the 3 point and 200 lbs with the loader. Any thougts about the GST would especially be appreciated. I'm going to drive it again tomorrow.
Thanks, Fred

Hi Fred welcome to the site. I'm fairly new myself. I think They are to high on the L3700SU. I bought mine about 2 mouth ago with Draw bar, cruise control, R-4 tires,Kubota insurence,0 financing & KS. 7.3 sales tax. $18.500 out the door. Also delivered 65miles to my drive.
If you search this site about buying Kubota's. I did and it help me make my deal. You will see a lot of people say to call Barlow Equipment - Home of the Kubota Tractor Package Builder and see what kind of deal they will make you. Then go back to your dealer. Hope this helps you. Kenney

I agree that they are a little high on the L3700.

But that sounds like a really good deal on the 3240.

And compairing to some at tractorhouse confirms this

The 3240 is a bigger tractor as you already know. It has better pulling power due to weight, can lift more on both ends, and has more features. It is a deluxe tractor compaired to an economy tractor.

140hrs is nothing on a kubota. If it looks well cared for and you can live with buying "used" and the GST, then I'd go that route. HST is real nice for loader work, but even the GST is leaps and bounds better than the tractors of the old days (like I grew up on). Drive it and if you like it, I wouldn't hesitate.

Most larger equipment is similar to GST. The draw backs I can see are when using the PTO. If you have the engine at speed to get the 540 PTO rpm you can't easily slow down, speed up, or change directions like you can with HST. It's not hard but it's also not just a simple push of a pedal. But I think like anything you get use to it. On my Case BH there is an override switch on both the FEL lever and gearshift so you can put it in neutral for a moment to either scoop a bucket load of dirt or shift gears.

Went back to the dealer this morning and drove the tractor around a field for about an hour. Got familiar with it and decided to get it. They put it on "hold" for me. They're going to check it over Monday. the GST is much like a manual transmission in a car/truck. T
