Is 900lbs too much weight to keep on the tractor when not doing any heavy FEL work? The tires are not loaded and I have the LA724 FEL with the 72" HD round back bucket with bolt on cutting edge. The FEL is always mounted.

Whats a guesstimate on how much weight I should use when scooping a full load of dirt or gravel?

Thanks

Your manual should list your required ballast

I've looked through the manual several times and haven't seen that information. Limitations for the implements is the only information I've seen.

What does your loader weigh?

Have you looked in your loader manual? I am pretty sure I saw a number in mine, but will have to check to make sure I am not imagining it. On my L5740, I have loaded rear tires and over 1000 on the 3PH doing loader work.

The FEL with bucket and cutting edge weigh approximately 1700lbs.

From the tractor manual

I'm a little slow but it's not real clear.

Well your tractor is of similar size and weight to my tractor (Kioti DK35se) and my Kioti manual list the rear ballast should be 1100 lbs. I am running 750 lbs, (which was just right for my old L3400) and loaded rear tires.. I could use some more weight when picking up a full bucket (with the factory 66 inch bucket) of crusher run 0 to 3/4 inch rock.. It is Ok. but another 300 lbs would be better. When I use the old Kubota 60 inch bucket the 750 lb rear weight is just right. So I am thinking about that 1100 lbs would be about right for you too.

Yeah, it is not very clear. I use enough to allow me to use my FEL to its full potential; some recommend enough to where the relief valve on the FEL will activate before lifting the rear wheels. I am not quite there with a little over 1000 pounds on the 3PH and loaded tires. I just got a 1300 pound box blade and that may very well put me there.

I have the rears loaded with rim guard on my 3540 cab. According to the rim guard folks that added about 1200 lbs to the back of the tractor. With that said, I usually have a 7' box scraper at about 800 lbs. on the 3 pt hitch.
