I saw a article about using graphite seed hopper paint on lawn mower decks to ease clean up. I cannot seem to find this stuff. Anyone know of the manufaturer or what it is called, or a source in the North East.
Batty54,
I just picked up a rattle can of it at FARM AND FLEET, what once was CENTRAL TRACTOR. Its called " SLIP PLATE" and they had it in gallons as well. I haven't tried it yet, I am going to repaint the bottom of my deck first and then try the SLIP PLATE on it. Hope to get to it this weekend.
Thanks, unfortunately the Central Tractor near me (an hour away) went to pot. They are mostly a clothing and toy store. I used to be able to get any part I needed for my old Ford and AC. Now I am lucky to find a spark plug for my lawnmower. I will try them if not I will try on line, if their new catalog is up, they weren't a month ago.
Batty54,
See my post "Grass sticking to bottom of mower deck" I am going to try it on my mower deck this weekend. I will post the results on that post.
Interesting thread "Grass sticking to bottom of mower deck" I never had a problem till a few years ago. I switched to an aftermarket blade instead of Gravely blades. I could buy a set of them for about half the cost of one from Gravely. I always used zink oxide yellow primer and Mil spec (battle ship paint) paint for the underneath of the deck, with no problems. I really hate to go back to paying $20-$30 a blade. I will try the slip plate as soon as I get a chance to get to Central Tractor or whatever they call themselves now.
