Grapple and third remote

That is what I was saying. I don't think they are wired to anything. I believe the buttons were made into the joystick for the addition of a third function valve.

It appears that your dealer chose not to use a separate valve but opted to utilize your rear remote. That really should have been a decision made by you not them. Basically they took the cheapest and easiest path to work your grapple.

You could call the dealer, assuming they are still in business, and ask them if they could add a true third function valve. They may not even know how which would be sad.
And visiting with the parts department you may learn there is a Whole Goods kit you can purchase that would provide everything needed to make those switches work.

I much prefer using switches on the joystick. Having to let go of the joystick and use a separate lever would frustrate me greatly.....

Thinking back, ten years ago when I was shopping for a tractor I looked hard at a New Holland. They used a diverter valve mounted on the FEL front crossbar. A single push button on the joystick allowed the operator to divert the curl function to the 3rd function couplers.

Maybe NH offers a true third function kit?? Not sure.

My Kubota uses true third function with solenoid valves like K5lwq described? If so they would be operated by the twin pushbutton switches on your joystick handle. Much preferred. Expensive.

It would me as well. My brother, on the other hand, used his rear remotes on his John Deere to control his grapple and loves it. He has never used one with electric over hydraulic valves so just does not know better. 😂

I spent the last few minutes searching parts diagrams to locate this lever and came up empty.
It looks homemade or "shopmade" to me:

Yep. If I'm chasing a brush pile I get my Grapple against it rolled forward with my claws near the ground. Push the close button and hold it, curl the bucket back and lift, all at the same time. One smooth motion and I'm loaded.
