I plan to build a grapple this winter and to this end I ask this question. Without spending a bunch of money has any one come up with a clever button set up to switch on the diverter valve. I’ve seen the $100+ commercial units and even purchased an old computer joy stick ($2.00) to see if it can be modified to do the job, but I’m not happy with either.
Thanks for any input.

I used the knob/switch from WR Long. Fits perfectly and does the job.

However, if you want one that fits on the joystick, you can get a block of wood and turn it on a wood lathe to the size you want. Drill a hole in the block for a metal bushing. Tap the bushing for the joystick threads and press it into the hole. Then drill another hole for the switch and mount it. Use a waterproof switch. Total cost would be less than $10.

I bought a 3 buck switch from Radio Shack and incorporated it into the present joystick, works slick. You can click on my signature link to see the thread.
