We are looking to buy a grapple that would bolt or weld on to a bucket and be able to interchange beween the 1920 and the TN. What I have is a lot of tree limbs from the orchard that need to be picked up and piled so it does not need to be a real heavy duty item. Just something simple that can hold limbs in a bucket. I was thinking a 4 foot grapple would work as the 1920 has a 5' bucket and the TN has a 6' bucket. My local dealer can get one from Horst Welding (www.horstwelding.com).Ideally the price would be reasonable also (around $1k give or take). I did think about building one but I do not have the time to build one. Any ideas and links to web sites? Anything I should look to avoid or problem areas that might come up?As for powering the grapple, I am going to run the grapple from the rear remotes so that it can be easily changed from tractor to tractor and keep cost down. Thanks guys.

Do your loaders have skid steer QA adapters? If so, check out the light duty 48" Millonzi grapple which can be had for well under $1K. A dedicated grapple will be much more flexible and I think useful.

If you decide to stick with the bucket grapple idea, you should look at Add A Grapple and see if they can sell you two mounting kits and one grapple arm. The ATI bucket grapple might also be flexible in that sense if I remember correctly in that you can remove the grapple arm without undoing a lot of bolts (or welds:eek: ).

IslandTractor:

Check this out- Grapple

I have one and the mount is adjustable for width, and the grapple comes off of the mount by pulling a pin (long rod).

Yep, I think that is the best of the systems for quickly adding a bucket grapple. I was just about to order one when I stumbled on to an ebay auction for my Millonzi grapple (which I won). I like the Add A Grapple concept very much.

Unfortunately I do not have the quick tach system on either of these tractors but I have contemplated buying a dedicated grapple to put on the 1920 as the TN gets used a lot while the 1920 can be set up to run certain implements/attachments for a period of time without affecting our operation much. The add a grapple system looks like what I want but I have to talk to them and see how much more the extra mounting bracket is going to cost and make sure everything will interchange between the two different sized buckets.

If you were not going to switch the grapple off one of the tractors regularly and just leave it on the dedicated "grapple tractor", Millonzi can weld on the ears necessary for a pin on attachment to their grapple. I elected not to go that route but at least a few guys here on TBN did just that and seem happy. It obviously saves the cost and weight of the QA adapter.

If Add A Grapple charges a lot for the extra mounting points, just get a local welder to copy them for you once you have the original.

I would rather be able to interchange between tractors as long as I find a system that will work well. If not then I would look at going with a pin on grapple bucket.

Robert,

I know this is an old thread (and know you still post here), but did you end up buying an add-a-grapple and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks

No, I have not bought one yet as I am not completly sold on the idea. I am leaning towards buying quick tach systems for both tractors then I can buy a regular grapple and easily swap loader attachments between both tractors. Just seems like it makes more sense as I have pallet forks as well that I would like to use on the small tractor every now and then.
