Rake Grass rake, what's out there

Question ? I would like to purchase a grass rake to pick up about 4 acres of field and other areas. Really dont want another engine to maintain or a PTO driven "exspensive unit" Just looking for a rake i can pull or push grass to the end of my field and then pick up. Mostly for when i don't have time and my grass gets somewhat tall and then its mowed. Is there any rakes i can buy for a resonable price to do such a task.

JD 3005 is my tractor and my Mower is a JD 261 side discharge.

I would look at pine needle rakes. They sell them on everythingattachments.com

I've never used one though so you may want to wait to hear from someone with more experience.

Pine needle rakes are not good for short clippings but they will help some. Besides using for the needles which it does a great job with I also make a couple of passes across my yards to lightly dethatch. Then follow with a collection system. You can use a pine needle rake to help clean it up a bit just don't expect perfection.

In a nutshell the fastest and easiest way is to cut the grass in a timely manner. When I have skipped a mowing and have clumps I drive back over the worst of them to disperse. I use mulching blades and mulch plug the majority of the time and collection system about twice a year.

Let the grass dry out and used the mower to blow it all out of my field. Worked great and now i don't need a rake. One advantage of a side discharge mower i guess.
