Here are a couple pics of the drive project. Middle buster did well. We have a lot of water coming up through the gravel off the hill hopefully this will help. image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Nice job! I like your weights on the buster. Good idea.

Looks like the middlebuster did do a good job! I'm curious as to how you decided to use a socked drainage pipe instead of leaving an open ditch. Was it just aesthetics? As well, did you contemplate filling in on top of the pipe with gravel instead of dirt?

Although your efforts are noble, I fear they are for not. I see the grades next to the drive are pointed to the gravel. The grade should always point away from the driving surface. As currently constructed there is no ditch to either side to intercept the water. This means the water running down the drive has no way to get off the gravel. This water flow is then increased by tributary area next to the drive. The drain pipe is good for water that is soaking into the ground. But you have high velocity water that's running on the surface without a chance to soak in. Honestly, the real solution is to cut the bank back with a couple of proper ditches to either side. Then generously bank the gravel to get the water to flow to the side and into the ditch. The ditch will probably need some rip-rap to help slow the water wo it doesn't wash out.

Cord, thanks for the input. I have watched many storms roll through and the issue is more from an old broken tile sending water down the drive than water coming off those hills. I would not have believed it had I not seen the rutting start in the middle of the drive. Storms predicted Thursday....we'll see what happens.

We have the same issue with our driveway. I am slowly fixing the problem but it is still annoying to have mud and watch our rock get washed away every rain.

Blanchester......I have an uncle that lives off of 123 just outside Blanchester heading towards Lebanon. Born and raised in Lebanon, great place to be from....

I may add the open ditch....we'll see. I have gravel coming today. What' odd to me anyway is that the gravel and adjacent grassy sides seep water for weeks. Lots of springs in the area?

As you know we're always behind the times......we'll have an extra few weeks when the worlds ends;)
