Just an update.

This weekend we excavated the front of the driveway. Added the block like the rear, and added the gravel from the previous driveway.
I have driven over it about 50 times moving dirt around the yard. The sides keep compacting from the backhoe and I add more gravel.

Does anyone have suggestions for driveway edges? The yard slopes left to right and in spots if the driveway is level with the top of the slope, it could be 8-10 inches high on the other side.

So, one more quick question. It has rained a couple of times causing most of the fines from the old gravel to wash into the drive. A couple of 60,000 dump trucks drove on it and I see no more compaction. I had been planing on putting what the quarry calls #2 stone on the geo fabric then covering with smaller gravel. I was planing on using the #2 to fill to grade then 3 inches of gravel above grade. I talked to the quarry and they recommended just putting down all smaller gravel or crusher run. With the fill plus a little over grade i would have 6-8 inches of stone total. The small stone is cheaper by the ton but only about $100 a truckload. I would like to have the strongest drive possible so a few hundred now is not a big deal to me. Any thoughts?

By the way, the #2 ranges from golf ball to baseball size angular stone. I have to use it in our septic leach field so it must drain fairly well.
