I need to rent a piece of equipment to help refurbish my gravel driveway. I need to remove the top couple inches as well at remove the mostly rotted railroad ties(real ones) that line the driveway.

The top of the drive needs to be removed due to years of accumulation of mud and clay from our dirt TWP road( they did put some gravel down last week for the first time in 15 years)

I am thinking that a skid steer might be the best solution. Anyone have any suggestions. The driveway is about 160 foot semicircle.

Do you have any equipment currently or do you have to rent everything? What equipment are you experienced with? What is the overall condition. If the base and top content is good, but just slightly earth covered, a rake will turn up things nicely. If it's rutted and nasty a box blade will do the job.
