Mine is recycled asphalt, it works ok, apart when I plough the snow off.

I have some tire ruts and a lot of water runs down them. I was thinking of digging a couple channels (just a couple inches wide) perpendicular to the driveway into the drainage ditches and filling them with stone. I am worried that they will become ditches of their own though.

Also, my drainage ditch fills with leaves every fall. I was thinking of filling them with large stones and maybe the water would flow underneath. Or would this just cause a huge overflow onto the driveway? I am not always home to clean them out and it wore my wife out this year.

Some guys around here get clinkers from the steel plant. I think they are free, and the right size for driveways. The bad part seems to be that they never bind. They constantly move. I wonder if they would be good for a base?
