I've had this screen kicking around for several years. I picked it up as 'scrap' with a bunch of scrap during a clean up job. And I had a few red oak logs laying in the yard from this spring. (browntail killed the oak) So while milling lumber, and the last logs in the yard were the oaks, I cut 3.5" x 7.5" timbers and some 2" planks. Frame is grade 5 bolts, planks are attached with lag bolts. I broke too many galvanized lags to ever use them again. I'll re drill and bolt everything as time allows, but it works well in my small pit!

I've got a 5'X8' screen I use for both sand / stone separation and screening compost. Expanded metal, so pretty fine.

The difficulty I have with it is finding the best screen angle for the material at hand. Every time I think I should build a structure with a shaker engine, I kick myself awake and recall how infrequently I really need to use such a screen.

But when it's needed, a screen sure is a time and money saver

This screen is 4' x 6' made with 1/4" straight rod, and one inch openings. (flat, not woven)
I have also thought about the shaker, but My OCD brain would explode knowing something is out of balance! Especially on purpose.
Then there is the whole maintenance deal with something rarely used.

I already can see improvements and add-on parts coming, but for now it's separating rocks from finish material.
