I have a friend with an older elevated fuel tank that appears to be in remarkably good condition. He wants nothing for it. Hose would have to be replaced. I am leary though of an older tank, and not sure if filters can be fitted to a gravity feed tank. I was leaning toward using it for gasoline for mowers and generator on the property. I also use diesel, but the tank is 150 gallons, which is overly large for what I use for tractor diesel, and overly small for what I use for the motorhome. I'm kinda talking myself out of it. So just thought I would get additional feedback. It would be handy as can be to have the gasoline storage on site. But I don't want endless problems either.

If you use less than 150 gallons a year, I would strongly consider not having an above ground storage tank as condensation will be your enemy. If you elect to use the tank, absolutely have a good filter even if gravity fed.

I had one 15 years ago. It worked fine and had a filter. I now have a 1000 gallon ground level tank with an electric pump. I was chatting with my fuel delivery guy and he said they no longer fill the gravity tanks as it is a fall hazard for them. I am sure there are places that still do but mine doesn’t. Also with a tank that small you might be paying a premium to get it filled. Most commercial farms have much larger tanks.

YUP. I have been paying a premium to get my tanks filled for years. Used to get bulk discounts but not for a long time.

Gravity tanks not allowed here. Not sure I would get one or not if they were allowed. It's really no different, as far as a leak goes. In fact, maybe safer. Up in the air, I could detect a leak easier, dripping or running down the legs. Low to the ground, who can tell? Everything smells like fuel around there anyway.
