can someone tell me where the engine number is exactly on my 1960 model L. I am also looking for the casting(s) number and I have no idea where to find it?

The Serial number is on the tag on the Fuel tank support ( fan shroud ) on the Righthand side. If there isn't a tag there, you're out of luck. Starting with the J serial date codes they were moved to the Advance Casting on the Lefthand side. But that wasn't until 1966. They look like this one if it's a 37 to 57.

In 57 they added another box on the tag.
