"Gray Market" Kubota for sale?

Found this ad on CL. I don't know much about the Gray market Kubota's . Thought I would share on TBN. No idea if the ad is legit or not.

Kubota gray market, with new front-end loader. 111 hrs, since fully re-conditioned, with 4-cylinder, 1732cc, Kubota diesel engine. Quick disconnect on front loader bucket, power steering, 8 forward speeds and 2 reverse. Tractor in excellent condition. $8800.00

when i was looking at used equipment I would call the local dealer of whatever brand I was looking at and ask the about that model, and to check the serial number to prove legitimatcy. out of all the dealers I talked to about various pieces of equipment the Local Kioti dealer was the only one not willing to hep me, but i called the guy 2 hours away and he was good to deal with

I'm not actually looking at this for myself. I just saw it on CL and thought it was a good price for a 40HP with FEL. Really don't know much about the gray market units.

Grey Market means that the original sales source cannot be verified or has been verified as not through the original OEM , as opposed to being purchased from a registered Kubota dealer. That can absolutely have consequences with warranty, etc., not sure that applies here. The context above suggests Grey Market may apply to the 'reconditioning' meaning it could have non-Kubota parts installed.

Yup. Kubota sued the importer of them out of business years ago, so new ones really aren't coming into the country. I'm not sure if dealers can't or won't service them due to issues with Kubota. At any rate it's hard to get parts for them. The same part might be stocked for US Kubotas, but you'd need to know the part number to order it from the dealer.

Yes, generally they are not new units but used as a lawsuit generally follows (Deere did something similar to Montana Tractors some years back, they where allowing them to buy Deere engines for specific market not in NA and some of those tractors made it to states). And yes most dealers have zero interest in helping out the importers, don't know that I blame them. I have always kind of lumped them in with 2 stroke string trimmers, if you get a couple of years out of them before they die you go yipee and throw it away (assuming the price was right).
