I did not try to figure this out on my own too hard...but I did try.

Some thread titles show up as Blue. Some Gray. Doesn't seem to matter if I have posted in the thread, or have viewed it or not.

How come? I know I'm gonna be /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif when I hear the answer...but now I'm /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif and got the feeling that /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif is better than /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hmm -- not sure exactly what you're seeing, but try this -- when you have some confusing highlighting, try refreshing the screen (use the refresh button in your brower's menu) and see if that brings things up to date.

Interesting observation, Bill. Why should that surprise me from you? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Anyway, I just tried a liitle experiment. Sure enough, if I opened a thread without posting to it, the title remained blue in the index. But when I posted to a thread, the title changed to gray. But I went back to check a couple of threads that I just looked at earlier and their titles were gray, even though I didn't post to them. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

So I don't know the answer either, Bill. Just thought you'd like to know that you aren't totally crazy! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It is your browser settings. It will hightlight a link that you have visited a different color from a visited link.

If I understood him correctly, he said it didn't matter whether he had read the post or not. I think I can describe what's happening. When I clicked on the "News/Feedback" category, two of the subjects were Blue because I had not yet read latest posts. I clicked on one of them (this one) and read the latest post. Then I clicked my "Back" button to return to the list of subjects. Both of them were still Blue, even though I had read one of them. This is because I used the Back button, which does not update the screen but loads the previous screen, still in the state it was in when I first saw it.

So, I refreshed by clicking the browser's "Refresh" button and, lo and behold, the Blue subject which I had already read became Gray, and the one I had not yet read stayed Blue. Everything was now up to date and right with the world.

Is this what is happening to you, Henro?

Its really not just threads that show up as blue or gray, it's basically any link on this site (for example the Reply link I clicked to post this reply). There's a "style sheet" being used that defines links you've visited <font color="#636563">in this color</font> , and links you haven't visited yet <font color="#2737A2">in this color</font>. There's also a red color defined (<font color="red">this one</font>) for when you "hover" on a link (that is you put the mouse on it but don't click).

I think sometimes the link changes, even though the thing that is linked hasn't. For example, maybe I read a recent thread and its on page 1. It goes from blue to gray, and stays gray for a while. Eventually as new threads come in, the thread I read gets pushed down to page 2. At that point, it sometimes shows up blue for me again (even though there is nothing unread). I assume that this is because the underlying link (the http:... stuff) has changed, maybe to reflect that its on a new page or something. I'm not curious enough to dig into it any further to know for sure.

Hope this helps.

You got me, Don.

I notice forums with new posts seem to show up as BOLD blue. If I look at the forum and come back, then it shows as normal text blue.

How the gray fits in I'm not sure.

I think I will just live with it. I thought there was a reason that only I did not see.

At this point all I know is that I see bold blue, standard blue and gray, part of which I think I can relate to...the gray is still the question in my mind...actually it may be Bold gray...

I think at this point I will just stay /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif and happy...rather than worry about it any more... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Henro,

I serously think there is some devine intervention telling you to get rid of the orange and get something that is Blue and Grey. Hmmm I think New Holland has something in that order /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Murph,

You may be right...and there is a blue dealer a mile up the road too... But I fear it will take more than divine intervention to get me to visit them again... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Wonder why so many of us seem to have a sad story to tell about how they were treated by one color of dealer VS another. With every color seeming to be well represented? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

<font color="#666666">Gray: Visited Link</font> (don't confuse link with thread, they are not the same thing)
<font color="blue">Blue: Unvisited Link </font>

If you browser is not set up to update on each page view, the link colors may not update correctly.
