Has anyone ever found a grease joint that is very difficult to take grease, but is not plugged?

I have a 1997 Massey Ferguson 1240 compact tractor. On the undercarriage there is grease fitting on each of the (2) clutch linkage pivots, and (2) brake linkage pivots. The grease joint is simply a stub shaft, with a very shallow groove around the circumference of the shaft, for the grease to flow.

I'm the second owner on this unit and have owned it for 4 years now. I've always had trouble getting grease in these joints, as it either wants to bypass the fitting and come out the end of my grease gun, or basically requires almost my full strength to pump the gun lever to get the grease in.

This year at the end of winter I actually disassembled a couple of the fittings because I was certain the joints must be clogged. To my surprise there was essentially no dried grease or grim plugging any part of the joint. I even put a brand new fitting on these joints, reassembled, and still find that it's extremely hard to get grease in these fittings.

So...is it possible....are the joints possibly a little too tight from the factory by design for grease to flow, which is why it takes my full strength to attempt to pump it in? Has anyone ever found this? The joints do appear very tight with very little tolerance, but not that I measured anything.

The grease I use is a synthetic NGLI #2 with 5% moly. I've also used just your standard synthetic lithium complex #2 with the same results.

On my TC 30 , I have a 757C backhoe and When greasing it , I have to find the " Sweet " spot on several of the pins . This is accomplished by moving the B.H. side to side or putting down pressure on the ground , etc ... .
Basically what I am doing is moving the pin away from the fitting . Like Your's , Some pins are very tight tolerance and although I am likely only moving a given pin a few thousands of an inch , The difference it makes is huge .

With age though , I also gave up on manual grease guns . Spent the $$$ and bought a Lincoln air gun . Have not looked back since . In Fact , Now I believe I keep things Better Lubed than I did Before since it is easier .

I have one grease zerk that is "tight". I have to move the hydraulics to find the sweet spot where this zerk will accept grease. Strange - its the only tight zerk on the entire tractor and FEL.

Try heating the shaft and the area around it then keep pressure with grease gun and tap the shaft
or housing sometimes this works you may need two people to do this one to apply pressure and one to tap. This has worked for me several times.

If you don't pressure wash those pedal pivots shouldn't need grease very often. If they're easy to disassemble you could lube them with something heavy and clingy like wheel bearing grease every few years. $.02
