Had to buy grease since I ran out of the nice Yamalube I had laying around. I was a bit taken by the selection of grease these days. I just picked up a truck and wheel bearing grease for the tractor and toys. What kind of grease is everyone pumping into their toys?

For generic chassie lube.. I'm using the tubes of blue NH grease.. I just buy it by the case... looks like good stuff?? decently cheap.. and NH reccomends it for their stuff.. I have mostly ford/nh stuff anyway.

Scrounger; I've been using Alvania 2EP for years in everything. I think it's a Shell product. I also think it's a multipurpose lithium base. All I can say I've never had to replace any bearings in anything I own. Have used it in boat trailer wheel bearings to bushings in loaders to balljoints in trucks. It makes me happy. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There are all types of grease out there today. I use high tempature grease in my 4x4 ford (it calls for it in front wheel bearings) so I use it on everything Tractor, toys etc;

Soundguy do you remember what you have been paying for a case of that grease from NH? I have been using tubes from TSC but I'm not pleased.

PineRidge, I was thinking of trying the Traveller Truck and Tractor grease at TSC in our farm equipment, What don't you like about it? I did notice a strong solvent smell in the one tube I bought, sort of like acetone.

The grease that I have been purchasing at TSC just doesn't seem to stand up as well as the grease that I have used in the past from TSC. I seem to need to grease more often using the TSC grease and when it's hot it seems to expel out of the joint quicker.

DISCLAIMER: Keep in mind that my observations are merely my own personal opinions, I have no scientific evidence to support this theory whatsoever, me, too, neither, also. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Gosh.. I can't recall price... I buy by the case.. perhaps 1.69 a tube?

Iknow TSC has a few diffwerent grades. Their 'brown' 84 cent a tube stuff does seem thin.. almost a 0# grease.. Deffinately not as thick as plain old wheel bearing grease out of a tub.. etc..

I use John Deere SD Polyurea. Even my grease is green. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am glad I am not the only person who walked into the auto parts store to pick up some "grease" and stood dumfounded with my chin down to my knees for ten minutes before some poor kid came over and said "take this" and grabed a tube of cheap moly grease.

The way I figure it, I am lubing tractor implements, I pump it in every time I use the things and there is alway room for more the next time I use it. Anything has got to be better than nothing and your basic moly lube has gotta be a reasonble choice.

Though, I keep telling myself to lube the joints AFTER each use to keep water from getting in, but I keep forgetting.
