While working on getting the serial numbers from my new-to-me MF35, i've been playing with blacklights and chalk.

Something that was cool to me was the discovery of what grease looks like
under a blacklight.

You can use that black light to find hyd leaks, oil leaks, A/C leaks by using the florescent dye . You add it to the oil, and the leaks will glow a yellow/green I get dye from NAPA.

Black lights are great for finding pet stains on carpet, too.

Or even scarier stains in hotel rooms on the bedspread and furniture

We used them to find leaks in fuel lines and injectors in the engines of the locomotives before I retired.
The fuel would be white and looked like milk. Made finding the leak easy.
The engine oil color would remain black if it wasn't contaminated too much.

Hi David,

Got any old gritty photos of those engines? I know it might be a long shot, but... I find diesel trains interesting.

Sorry fellers I lost all of my digital pictures from work when the old puter went kaput.
I have some prints but no scanner.
If you will google Corinth and Counce Railroad there are some pics of the locos
before the line was sold (twice which was no fun). It is now owned by KCS.

Sorry again
David
