So I am coming up on the first 10 hours on a new tractor. I went and got a pneumatic grease gun for the job. I bought the red high temp grease but I was wondering if anyone is using a different type grease and why?

I use grade 0 grease for mower decks. It melts into a really thick oil. I used to have trouble with the towers going out. Haven't had an issue since. I use the hi temp for every thing else.

as frequently as we add grease to the fel and bh, just about any good grease will work fine for them. It's not like they are highspeed like wheel bearings and require a heat tolerant grease, they don't. If the grease is slippery, that's about all you need to worry about.

I use boat trailer wheel bearing grease on everything. Is not supposed to "wash out." I do grease often.

What kind of pneumatic dispenser did you go with? Let us know how it works.

I don't like doing it the old fashioned way but am too cheap to go buy a Dewalt cordless grease gun.

I bought a 5 gal bucket of Kubota grease (the aqua-blue colored stuff). When greasing the loader every 10 hours, I was going through enough tubes that I realized it made more sense to buy the lifetime supply bucket.

We use a couple different greases. Things that get lubed often and not under a lot of load get a cheap grease. Everything else gets a Redtac or Lubriplate grease. Wheel bearings only get Lubriplate

Edit: Things that must turn frequently when cold (augers) also get the cheap grease during winter and better grease during summer.

Frequent application of the wrong grease is better than infrequent application of the right grease. Personally I use molly grease, the nasty black stuff with molybdenum in it.

With open sloppy joints like loaders & what not you are driving contaminants like me dirt & sand out when you grease as much as you are putting in new lube.
