Greasing Spines on a T1110 FWD

Should I go ahead and grease the rusty area on the splines on the shaft that run from the hydrostatic case at the rear of my NH T1110 to run the front wheel drive, or dosen't it matter.

Should I go ahead and grease the rusty area on the splines on the shaft that run from the hydrostatic case at the rear of my NH T1110 to run the front wheel drive, or dosen't it matter.

If there isn't a grease fitting on it or an maintenace requirement to grease it, I wouldn't grease it. Grease will attract dust and dirt and cause wear.

hard to tell from the picture, but it doesn't look like the yoke slides on that spline during normal operation? If it doesn't slide, some paint would be better than grease...
