great deal on pallet forks.

hi, its been about a year and a half since i got my new branson 4520r. i mostly do loging with it. built a bandsawmill. cutting s. yellow, and virginia pine. gonna build my little dream house. anyway anyone who's loading logs on a sawmill knows how valuable a set of pallet forks are. i been using log tongs on my bucket. i welded two 3/4in.thick short pieces of bar stock to the top of my bucket drilled 3/4 hole in them, i use a shackle to mount the tongs on one side, rotate bucket all the way forward, lower tongs over log at just the right balance point were the log is a little heavy at the other end of bucket were i put a choke chain aruond log lift till level hook chain in clevis hook also welded at top of bucket, drive over to log bed lower log, unhook chain, run around to other side release tongs. big pain in the -ss. so ive been saiving and shoping, and asking others who have pallet forks, the average going price seems to be around 700 for 4000lb cap. 48in. well i was looking on craigs list, chattanooga, and i found an ad for skidsreer attachments outside of hunsville, ALA. so i called, he did have 4000lb 48in. best part besides the price is he gotem in every color you could want. he has JD yellow, Kubota orange, some ugly mustard color, charcoal witch matched my bucket exactaly, and black. also made in USA. well i said your a long ways away what kind of payment do i need to bring. he said bring cash and you can have for 500$ out the door. so i went by the bank filled the tank and headed south. hot no AC, got lost, stuck in road construction, did i mention it was hot, finally found the place. let me tell ya, he had every kind of skidsteer attch. you could think of some stuff didnt know what it was. he had hundreds of pallet forks. well he was true to his word, while i was handing over the cash, other boy was loading in my pickup. witch i might add doesnt have reverse. my neighbor who bought a mahindra the same time i got my branson, got his forks in the deal. the same weight cap. same constuction, he found the reicete he paid 852$ for his, he was pissed. anyway i feel like i got a good deal. somuch easyer to load logs. skidsteer depot. outside hunsville, ALA.
