Subject: A great Idea

When you get ads in your phone or utility bill, include them with the
payment. Let them throw it away.

When you get those pre approved letters in the mail for everything from
credit cards to 2nd mortgages and junk like that, most of them come with
postage paid return envelopes, right? Well, why not get rid of some of your
other junk mail and put it in these cool little envelopes! Send an ad for
your local dry cleaner to American Express. Or a pizza coupon to Citibank.
(I especially liked this!) If you didn't get anything else that day, then
just send them their application back!

If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn't on anything
you send them. You can send it back empty if you want to just to keep them
guessing!

Eventually, the banks and credit card companies will begin getting all their
junk back in the mail. Let's let them know what it's like to get junk mail,
and best of all, THEY'RE paying for it! Twice!

Let's help keep our postal service busy since they say e-mail is cutting
into their business, and that's why they need to increase postage again!

I love this idea. I'm going to try it out. How much junk do you think I can stuff into their envelope?

I think I will forward this idea to everyone I know.

Been doing that for years, even if it doesn't give them the message, I sure get rid of a lot of crap. Hmmm, just came up with a new idea, now if I can just convince the wife when she emptys the cat's litterbox~~

Just take the envelope apart and wrap/tape it around a brick. What's first class postage on a couple of pounds? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Emery, My wife was really upset when I did not remove our name and address from the materials that I returned in the convenient postage paid envelopes the junk mailer provided. She said then they would know who did it. I said, so, what will they do to get even, quit sending me stuff??? I have been doing this since the mid-late 60's. My father-in-law used to do something similar. In the olden days there was a postage rate/method called "air mail". Quite expensive and not universally used due to cost. Frequently advertisers would use postage paid cards, "AIR MAIL" (not letters) as a return device. How do you stuff a card? He would wrap a common brick ($0.03 at that time - early 60's) and glue the air mail card to it and drop it in the mail... POSTAGE GUARANTEED BY ADDRESSEE... love those words. By the way, he WAS a rocket scientist, worked personally with Von Braun at Cape Canavaral, Florida and Huntsville, Alabama. Quite a sense of humor, nicht var?

Probably could still do that with postage paid envelopes. Wrap a brick or other junk, scrap wood, whatever and glue the envelope to it.

On the other hand... You could put up a second(or second , third, fourth, etc) PO Box(es) tilted back a bit with the bottom cut out and a chute leading into a trash can. Subscribe to every junk mail source you can find and use the second (and any subsequent) address (special box(es). Roll the junk mail into "paper logs" and burn them for fuel. I once thought of doing that and shredding the junk mail and using something like a pellet stove (perhaps with modified auger) to burn the shredded paper. Cheap winter heat for the shop or home.

Patrick, I worked for the Post Office for 5 years in my younger days. Used to return junk mail "air mail, special delivery, postage due"./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I love it./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Yep, it was expensive; $.07./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Of course I was "working a window" at the Post Office, selling stamps and such when the price of a regular stamp went from $.04 to $.05, and we also got complaints because a "penny postcard" went up the ridiculous cost of $.03. And the rarely used "Special Delivery" cost a whopping $.30. And those "business reply" envelopes were referred to by postal employees as "penalty mail." Those businesses paid the regular first class mail rate plus $.02.
