Tractor
JD750, YM1700
It appears that most of you folks are from south of the MASON/DIXON LINE. I have relatives in NC and VA. I have really enjoyed the posts on this sight for the last few weeks, it's been a bit nippy up here, so the computer has gotten some extra use. I am the proud owner of a JD 750, and most recently a YM1700. I bought the YM for its FEL, to use it on the JD750. The 1700 is in quite good shape, except it has a broken crankshaft. The engine was apart but complete when purchased. It seems a shame not to fix it. I checked parts prices and stopped breathing for a minute. I thought of selling the tractor for parts, but I really like the tractor. It dosen't seem as if there are too many people in this area with Yanmars. I have read so many great posts here, I could use some advice. Thanks in advance!

I thought Haddam sounded familier. It's been awhile since I was up that way. Went and checked. Well DUH!!! I have relatives that are from North New Haven.

Welcome Codeman,
I've experienced the broken crankshaft with my YM2002D. The John Deere 750 is the closest relative to my Yanmar. The knuckle seals are the same. I'm pretty new here myself. Wish I had known about this several years ago. Could have saved myself considerable grief. Good luck with your endeavors!

Welcome too ya there Codeman,
Yes plenty of very knowledgeable folks here and ready to chime in with any help they can provide;)
I think I can put you in touch with someone who can get you the crank for the 1700, although I wouldn't have any idea of the price? I'm sure if you decide to go the parting out route You will not have any trouble selling off the parts, there was a local here in Ga, that had a 1700 back in the summer he was selling parts from, I inquired about a part (Hydro pump) on the same day of the ad posting, He replied that someone was coming to buy the complete tractor, and that the purchaser might consider selling me the part I need, the tractor is worth triple in parts then would be as a whole tractor,;)
