My name is Ken Johnson AKA Therios Pendragon. I live in Rainier Oregon. Got to just about 90 here and that is quite hot for me. I prefer about 70. It is that for about half the year. The others are snow/cold/rain and heat.

We just moved here to our little farm last summer. It did not take long to realize that we could not keep up with the property without a tractor. I have been dreaming for a good year.

Last week for my birthday, I got a grey market Yanmar 1500D from Tractorco.com. I bought a brand new 42" tiller, a 4' rotary mower, and a 4' HD box blade.

I can't be more excited... In the week coming up to the purchase, I must have moved every single square inch of dirt on my entire 5 acres. Didn't sleep. Now I have no issues sleeping. I never realized that tractoring really does take a lot out of you.

I am 46 now and work at Intel 50 miles away. I work in development and work in a fab that figures out how to make our next generation chips. I work a compressed workweek and thus have long weekends. I work 12.5 hours per day Sunday through Tuesday and alternating Wednesdays. Lots of time to tractor.

My bigest projects are two. I am working on building a roundpen for the horse. I need to keep him working when not riding. He is a little rowdy and gets bad manners quickly. This project is a huge challenge as I need to level as well as move a bunch of dirt. Then I need a gravel base and sand on top.

I think that is enough for now. Glad to be here and have already received some great help.

Welcome, Ken. You think the horse gets rowdy, you should try a donkey at farrior time!

I can't imagine! Our ferrier is still amazed at how easy my Foundation Quarterhorse is. Charley just leans on him and goes to sleep when the ferrier starts working. Same when we brush him. He is such a good boy. We got him from a 4H trainer and she had done a great job. Not only does he neck reign, but hardly ever have to as slight variations in saddle position and he knows what to do.

Now if I could make him a little more afraid of the tractor. He has to be near me all the time. He jumped the fence the other day just to get near me. Silly boy. So I got off the tractor to go put him away and when I turned to find out where he was, he was trying to eat my seat and the shift levers and anything else.
