I've been meaning to join this community but only now found time to drop a note. I would like to thank everyone for the helpful information being shared. I'm currently trying to make a decision on buying a 2010 Kubota L3400 HST with FEL or 2010 Mahindra 3316 HST with FEL.

The Mahindra certainly has the better price point but I'm concerned about re-sell value, cost and availability of parts in the future, seems like every other week one tractor dealer or another is going out of business, Kubota seems the better choice in that respect but you pay for the comfort level.

I'm also a bit shocked at how unwilling the tractor dealers in this area are about negotiating a deal. Either they are fat and happy and don't care about selling their product or they feel they have a captive audience and don't have to deal. Mahindra cash price is: $16,800 or $17,800 if you use their zero down, zero interest for 60 months. Kubota on the other hand is $18,200 cash or $19,322 for their zero down 60 month financing.

I haven't seen a lot of comparisons between these two models on this forum, any comments or opinions would be welcome? By the way, Both models have quick disconnect buckets on the FEL but Kubota will fluid fill the tires in their total price and Mahindra will not, both are delivered free in the price and both have folding ROP's in the above prices. We have 16.5 acres, large creek runs the length of the property and about 12 acres are relatively flat pasture, the balance is sloped and wooded.

For the immediate future the tractor will be used to keep the property cut, haul wood from downed trees along the creek, and clear a lot of fence rows.

Any suggestions/commetns would be appreciated.

Yeah, dealers here were not as accomodating as I imagined considering the economy, but I have found that private party sales are very open to negotiating. If you were to look for a slightly used tractor with low hours and pay cash you would get a great deal. Just a thought.

I had considered that, I actually have an old Ford 8N now but it's just not up to the task and no FEL so thought I would sell it and buy something more recent. I've always had concerns about buying other peoples problems when buying cars, guess it's a trust issue, ha!

I farmed with my dad when I was younger before joining the service and now at 58 and close to retirement the last thing I want is to spend all my time repairing an old machine but based on the prices I may have to compromise.

I appreciate the response.

Welcome to the site. Great place to learn about tractors of all types. I currently have a Kubota and really enjoy it. I enjoy the FEL and HST use with the loader and grapple. There are a lot of dealers around whehter here near home or on near our property in Va.
There was another post about a Kubota 3700 that was a few more HP and I believe the post indicated it was a little let money. Seems to good to be true. Could be I have the price numbers going in the wrong direction.
Anyway enjoy the site and welcome.

I vote for the Kubota simply because of the "presence" of the brand being better.
