Grew up green but couldn’t justify the cost to performance ratio on a machine that I will drive the wheels off. Let me see how my little GC1720 runs when it gets here.

Wife has a serious honey do list for me, along with my neighbor who objects to my swamp of a back yard. Yeah last owner did not clear the drainage ditch for 25 yrs... we have ducks floating in portions. Still would have bought the house last December but that would have been a negotiating point for sure.

Glad to be here and hopefully I can eventually contribute adequately to the forums.

Yes, welcome! And my GC2310 is still going strong after 11+ years and 850 hrs. You'll love your 1720.

You better be appreciating that your new tractor is not big enough to require DEF fluid and all that side of 'green.' Since the EPA answers to no one and is above all law, hard to tell how they decided the cutoff point of who does and does not have to use DEF.

These are the same people (based on green excuses) who turned the screws down on VW and cost industry, and therefore us in the long run, MANY MANY BILLIONS when the real truth is ... VW should be rewarded for exposing the malfeasance of the EPA. Small diesel autos contributed less than 0.1% of the nitrous oxide pollution of all vehicles and yet the EPA chose to turn down the screws tighter on them. Under 1/10 of one percent !!! Utterly absurd. The overall effect is more fuel gets used, consumers are screwed by worse performance and lower mileage. And NO ONE benefits. Totally irresponsible. The same people have , for the moment, left your GC1720 alone.

End of soapbox for this edition! Enjoy your machine, which I am sure you will !

These days you never know... but no doubt he meant the kind of Green that fits with "nothing runs like a Deere or smells like a John." I missed that ...but I can stand the embarrassment !

Correct Green as in John Deere, everything my grandfather had on the farm was green. Also yes environmental green dictated by city folks puts me over the edge, live in a concrete jungle then dictate what and how I use my land or equipment oh please...

My dad drifted with his equipment but now that he is retired is heading back to Deere. Pockets get deeper the older you get I believe.

I am located in Southwest Michigan having moved from my family痴 home in upstate SC January of 2019. Winter was brutal for my family and myself.

In SC I had access to the family/dads/grandfathers (rest his soul) equipment, skid steers, dozers, CUTs, dump trailers.. here well I have access to rental locations.

So I researched and decided to go with a SCUT as I only have 1 acre presently that the wife wants modified no room for 2 pieces of equipment yes my estimate is about 200 hrs of tractor work for my dad or 500 for me he can flat operate equipment. I am just so-so on it in comparison. My dedicated mower is a Skag V-ride 48.

My 1920痴 farmhouse is in great shape internally, the yard well nothing has been done since the 60痴. So summer 2019 projects are clearing 1/4 acre of drainage issue, backfilling 200 cu yds of fill dirt, removing 20 or so stumps, building the youngest a parking pad, putting in a fire pit area, putting in a patio area, adding sprinkler system, oh tilling and reseeding 1 acre, adding mulch beds.

We are also looking at buying 15-20 acres on a lake for building after the youngest graduates college in 6 yrs.

Oh well enough about me, glad to be joining team red. Miss my family home place but when work calls and sends you somewhere for the right figures you make decisions.

That's something I understand all too well as I was born and raised in central Minnesota, but now live in northern Alabama for the same reason.

So on that note, from one transplant to another :welcome: to TBN.
