Grew up green but couldn’t justify the cost to performance ratio on a machine that I will drive the wheels off. Let me see how my little GC1720 runs when it gets here.

TLB/MMM
BXpander Thumb
48 Tiller
60 Rake
and 9 post hole digger

Wife has a serious honey do list for me, along with my neighbor who objects to my swamp of a back yard. Yeah last owner did not clear the drainage ditch for 25 yrs... we have ducks floating in portions. Still would have bought the house last December but that would have been a negotiating point for sure.

Glad to be here and hopefully I can eventually contribute adequately to the forums.

Welcome!

Did you get much of a discount on the leftover 2018, or did you actually get a 2019 GC1723 or GC1725? For us, it was only $1,500 more for the 2019, or about $13 more per month with the 0.99% for 84 months. We just went with the fresh-off-the-truck 2019 with improvements over the 2018. It’s a great little tractor.

Went with the 1720 off the lot after looking at both. Personal preference but I liked where the FEL control was located and the ease of getting on and off both sides without too much concern of hitting controls. That said I came out $2500 less than the 1725 so to me it was significant enough to not go with the update. For the diff I added, 48” Tiller, Post Hole digger, 60” rake and paid part of the MMM for later use once the yard is sowed and growing.

Tractor showed up at 2:30 today, it now has 6.5 hrs on it :) 9 stumps down... The BL is absolutely fabulous on this little bugger. Couldn’t be happier with that part of the purchase. Wish it came equipped with he ability to add a grapple, but I am sure I can figure it out later.

So far the it is awesome, although dark got to me before I even really got started on the stumps and other items in the yard.

That's something I understand all too well as I was born and raised in central Minnesota, but now live in northern Alabama for the same reason.

So on that note, from one transplant to another :welcome: to TBN.

jjp, curious from where in Central MN you were from? Sorry for the hijack!

St. Cloud/St. Augusta area - still make it back there about once every year (or two) to see family. ...and swing by St Joseph Meat Market. Tend to miss all the small/family owned butcher shops and bakeries that have their own specialty items - after 12 years I've yet to find anything similar here in northern Alabama (though I've found a lot of small barbecue and/or chicken places here).

Was actually there 2 weekends ago! St Cloud has changed ALOT then since you've been gone, I avoid it as much as possible.

I've seen more than a few of those changes and can understand that sentiment completely (especially in light of some of the changes that have occurred).

You better be appreciating that your new tractor is not big enough to require DEF fluid and all that side of 'green.' Since the EPA answers to no one and is above all law, hard to tell how they decided the cutoff point of who does and does not have to use DEF.

These are the same people (based on green excuses) who turned the screws down on VW and cost industry, and therefore us in the long run, MANY MANY BILLIONS when the real truth is ... VW should be rewarded for exposing the malfeasance of the EPA. Small diesel autos contributed less than 0.1% of the nitrous oxide pollution of all vehicles and yet the EPA chose to turn down the screws tighter on them. Under 1/10 of one percent !!! Utterly absurd. The overall effect is more fuel gets used, consumers are screwed by worse performance and lower mileage. And NO ONE benefits. Totally irresponsible. The same people have , for the moment, left your GC1720 alone.

End of soapbox for this edition! Enjoy your machine, which I am sure you will !

I would have bought a VW diesel...that was a fine engine. And yes, the way VW was penalized was itself a crime...WAAAAAAY over the top.
