Does anyone have a picture of their tractor with the grill guard on it? Do you like it? How much did it cost? TC35D with 16LA loader.

Limited usefulness

Howdy - I have the TD40/16LA setup. I bought the guard, installed it, tried it awhile, and then promptly took it off. Haven't used it since. It is very heavy duty (like 50 lbs worth of steel) and swings forward (locking pin) so you can open the hood. I think that it would be very handy if you are loading dump trucks so that you don't smash your grill when getting up close while dumping. But otherwise, I don't think it is all that useful. I bought it to protect the grill in the brush, but that really doesn't seem to be an issue in practice for me, since it is too high for most brush that I encounter. Plus, it reduces your visibility down that nice sloping hood. Rattled a little and kind of got in the way when I went to mount up the front snow blower. Still interested? I have one to sell you if you happen to be in MA !

Sorry, I don't have a picture, but it is shown in the TC brochure, if you happen to have it.

Here's a picture of the grill guard. I'm pretty happy with it. I was worried it would be hard to fold down w/ the loader on, but it is very easy. I bought it sight unseen but am glad I got it.

No picture but it cost me about $185 (installed for NC while in for recall service). I got it because I had already bunged up the "grill cover" several times with logs that swung into it and hitting stuff with the bucket up. Of course, as Murphy's Law would have it, I haven't come close to ever hitting the grill guard now that it's on!! If you are doing much work with the bucket up (loading trucks, etc.) OR are swinging anything under the bucket (chained logs, car engines) it is well worth your while.

It is pretty easy to drop down and is definitely very HD and a substantial hunk-o-steel. My local welder kind of scoffed at the idea of paying "that kinda good money" for one because he could fabricate one blah, blah. With the way this thing fits right onto the tractor and its pretty slick hinging mechanism, once he saw it, he kinda snorted and had no comment. I think it's a heckuva piece of work for the money! 35DMan,

I have to agree with Steve's comments. If you are going to do any loader work, buy the grill guard. It's super heavy duty, looks macho/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif, and is a bargain! Without it, I'd have several dents in the front of my grill.

35dman, I too got the grill guard from the dealer. The TC35-40-45 product brochure has only one picture in it of the guard, and I my salesman had do some digging to find it.

It's very heavy, a little awkward to get out of the way to open the hood, but not difficult at all. Doesn't interfere with visibility at all. I haven't had to put it to the test as yet, but it's good insurance to buying a new grill cover, radiator, battery and fan assembly.

I got a newer brochure a couple of weeks ago. It had more Class III Boomers shown than the older brochure from about a year ago. It had at least two pictures of the grill, maybe three. One is on a TC 40D working in a hay field. The other is when the hood is up, the grill guard is shown folded down. No real differences in the brochure other than that though. The back page was different too.

I like mine - on a 45 - the only change I'll do is add some HD expanded metal to keep the smaller sticks from poking through. (as soon as I learn to weld)

Boy.. if I could weld.... my tractor would be scared.... Every time I got an idea I could just tack it on.... I'm kinda glad I can't weld.... gives me time to 'think' through bad ideas....
Or when i see the look on the face of a friend of mine that can weld, when i try to explain what I want...
