Anyone know if $450 is reasonable to pay for a grill guard for a landini 1-55? (same as dk55) I just bought the tractor&loader new and figured it would be a good first add-on but price seems kind of steep. Any thoughts or aftermarket options?

I'm very surprised that you didn't get a grill guard with the loader? That was included with my tractor.

Well, the DK55 takes the KL551 FEL. I just looked up on a dealer's website (that lists the Kioti parts) and this is what I found......maybe buy this and paint it to match??

M7530-13112 Grille Guard v $288.38

But, not sure how that will play out w/ going out of the country???

Just a thought? Good luck:thumbsup:

How technical are you? Don't know about the price of steel there either? But I took hours to take measurements and then i had to rework the base for my Kubota..after looking at at least a dozen other peoples work...So it might just behove you to pay the money? Not being smart or anything like that, my tractor had $600.00 damage to it when it rolled off the truck and it was not new...It only takes a second and it adds up real quick. The first design worked fine till i raised the bucket..Ha MY booboo..

$450? Wow...that is crazy even in Canadian play money. Any welder can build you one in about 2 hrs. You can even get expanded metal on it to keep sticks from poking the grill. My guess is about $150 if you do your own painting. Chevy Engine Orange, or even just black looks good.

So I'm not crazy for thinking that was too much to pay. I do have a welder, chop saw, etc and just might tackle trying to build one. I don't have torches though so any bends are going to be hard to make. I'm going to have to wait for my loader to come in to make measurements for clearances (dealer had to order the loader), who knows maybe it'll come with a guard but you'd think my dealer would've let me know. Does anyone have measurements from their home builds?

List price for the grille guard on my M-7040 was $196.

Ry, I wouldn't even worry about bends, just 45 the tubes on the top two corners(kinda like the old wooden caskets) then bring them straight down to the bottom tube and attachment plate. I also do all my cutting with a chop saw and those cuts would be pretty easy. If you build it yourself I bet you won't have $50 int when it's done.

Do you have an Electrical friend near? I put 1 inch black pipe in the rigid conduit bender and made my outershell from a single piece. It looked like a huge horseshoe, about 30 inches tall and 18 inches wide. Then welded it to the baseplate..the expanded metal center was $3.00 from the scrap pile at the sheetmetal shop?

I'm actually an electrician by trade. I didn't think any pipe I could bend by hand would be strong enough but maybe I'm over-thinking how strong this needs to be.

List Price from Landini is $450. We could make one for less, but not much less. At $60/hr labour and cost of steel, it wouldn't be much cheaper. If I ordered a grill guard in with some tractors coming, I would let one go for $400 myself. Not sure if you could mention this to your local dealer. I certainly could see special ordering one, with freight, would up the cost, so $450 would be bottom price most likely.
