Have 5 acres approx. half roughly level and planted in pasture grass. Ground is mostly a clay mix, soggy in spring and hard late in summer. Remaining acreage is mixture of surface rock and chimneys with dirt mounds intermixed. My desire is to continue leveling field and remaining acreage while amending field to retain moisture. Over 300' of graveled driveway. Winter of 2000 set record for 117 days of snow on ground with accumulations usually 2" to 6". Have been taking care of field cutting with 15HP Cub Cadet. Time consuming and frustrating in early spring because mower clogs. Financially cautious even more so with present economy. Have saved $6,000 cash toward purchase. Have dream of being able to provide a tractor service in my area

6 grand good down payment on a Kubota B-series,and for 6 grand there still some good 2wd tractors out there.

Sounds like you have a goal or two in your future..tractor service..now what part of the states would that be.

Take care.

So Boomer, are you looking for advice, commiseration, or what here? Maybe looking for somebody in your area with a deal on a slightly used tractor?

With a name like Boomer you should look at New Holland!

Hi Thomas. First off thanks for reply as I left my posting dangling. Was interested in any and all advice on tractor size to be looking at with my own set of conditions. Live in Eastern Washington state in Spokane WA. If your unfamilar it is not at all like Seattle as far as rain. We have all 4 seasons with very dry conditions in late July, August.

As stated to Thomas, I must apologize for leaving my question so open. As far as used good tractors especially Kubotas, they are very, very scarce.

Boomer is a old high school sports nick name. You'll have to explain connection with New Holland, not sure what you mean?

The new compact tractors that New Holland makes are called "Boomer"./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
