growl and rattle noise when working the 2210

Hi gang. Took delivery of my 2210 this weekend. While working with the 48" boxscraper in back soil not hard packed and tractor in 4 wheel drive and low range I got a growl and rattle that sounded like it was coming from the transmission.
All seems well and I just made sure I didn't have a full load in the box scraper after that. The fluid is not burnt or discolored. Has anyone else run across this?

Seriously though - I doubt there is a problem - mine has some interesting "moans" that emanate from the tranny/hydro unit. It's always done it, and it works fine - I just think, at least in my case, it's a matter of getting used to a new machine and the sounds it makes. I'm sure the dealer can explain the mechanics of the noise if it's really bugging you.

Thanks and that is probably all it is. My 475 made a louder whine from the tranny when worked hard but not growl or rattle. Seems fine, am just curious if others have noticed it.

Hey Bob,
Mine will rattle when lugging real good if I buy cheap fuel. Try and by from a good place that sells a lot. When I cheat and buy from the mom and pop placed which is closer it always will rattle.

I get a rattle from the engine if I rev it too much when it's still a bit cold and there's no load on the tractor.
I moans a bit when I don't have enough RPM's to do the job (lugging it).
Mostly I think the hydro tranny has a certain whiny-ness to it.

I used to hear a few unsettling noises from my 2210. My 4110 makes a few of its own, but in a different tone and pitch. I don't know whether I just got used to the noises on the 2210 or whether some of the rattling diminished as the machine matured. The tranny is definately whiney.

I have a pre-teen daughter, so I've gotten used to the whiney-ness in the house. I hope that goes away with maturity, too. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yea I know what you mean about the whining....I have two daughters...both are older and still whine..

)) It's not the normal hydro whine that I got from my X475 when plowing deep snow. This was a loud growl and also seemed like something smelled hot. My have just been the exhaust from the diesel I was smelling. Anyway I talked to the service department and they will check it out when they pick it up to mount the deck.
