Tractor
Kubota b2400 SOLD. Now a Massey Ferguson 285 SOLD. Now a Kubota 50HP
Long story short... a few years ago I took my tractor to a local dealership for a repair I didn't have time for, plus a hydraulics oil change. They were supposed to check for anything out of the ordinary as I was convinced there was something wrong with the hydrostatic drive. It came back as "don't worry, be happy".... (my translation).

Yesterday I did a hydraulic oil change (I couldn't find my pail of top up oil, and rather than mix brands, did a complete change). Everything went fine till I pulled out the strainer (Really, Kubota? You couldn't come up with a better way to do this???). The strainer had never been removed. As in the paint was still on it, and sealed from factory painting. It was full of chips. As in 2mm cubes, flakes, etc. as well as what appeared to be some sort of silicone or thread sealent. Being that I didn't forsee taking the whole tractor apart, that I figured most of the damage is probably done, and the tractor is no longer worth a whole heck of a lot due to age, I just put it back together. Also, these chips were in the "tank" (it's hydrostatic), and had not been caught in the return filter, so now I'll have to go see what it could be, and whether I should deal with it later...

rant over....

Just about every tractor will have something like what you found, plus more .

If the tractor is not performing as it should then service is required.

If the hyd pressures are good and the load lifting ability is OK, and ground travel is good, then you should use it until it is not usable, or needs service.

Some people even filter new oil.
