just ordered a tooth bar from markham welding and saw grubber bucket on website. does anyone have experience using one? is it good for pulling small stumps? how deep can you dig with it? does it quik tach to the 430 loader on my 4410? please share any thoughts with me you might have on this subject. Thanks Bud

If a grubber bucket is the same thing as one of these then I have used one a little bit. I helped a friend try to dig some echinacea out of hard clay (the fact that clay is not the correct soil to plant echinacea in is another story ...). If I pointed it straight down, lifted the front end of my tractor off the ground, and used the curl to wiggle the bucket back and forth, I could drive it about 1/2 way into the ground. Curling all the way back would lift a pretty good hunk of clay out of the ground. In softer ground, I'm sure it would go all the way in and you would be able to make a nice trench.

My 990 is a similar size to your 4410 and has the same 430 loader, so you should get very similar performance. Sometimes I found the loader wasn't quite strong enough to just drive in and rip a hole in the clay, but with a bit of wiggling around and working at it, it was OK. For sure I would NOT have been able to drive the normal bucket in more than an inch or two and digging down the 16" or so we needed to would have been a major undertaking without the shrub bucket.

If you think you have a use for it and can afford it, or build it fairly cheaply like I did, then you probably won't regret having one.

brad thanks for taking the time to answer. the attachment you made looks great. i guess the addition of teeth would make it dig & rip roots pretty good. check out the "markham welding" website they are in nc, and the picture of their "grubber bucket". again thanks for sharing your knowledge & experience. bud
