Hi guys im new to this site and also to my l35 2002.
A question about the shifting of gears, how long should they pause before shifting to the next gear? Mine takes about a second or so. And I lose a little speed, also in 8th gear it seems under powered. What do you think?

That is about the same is mine. I was told the delay is intended, so the hydraulic clutch asborbs the shock gradually. 8th gear isn't real powerful, mostly road use. Whenever I've used 8th, I've always kept the RPM at 2,000-2,500. I used to live near a guy who had a L35. He beat it to death and it always ran good, they are one tough machine.

One more question, when you are in gear 7 and shift into 8 are your rpms at 2500 then it chugs a little untill up to speed?

I wouldn't say so any more so than any other gear.

I change gears at all speeds. If I'm on the road, I usually set the hand throttle at 2,500 RPMs, then shift as needed.

And usually I only use 8th gear for flat roads. I don't like going downhill in top gear in anything, and my tractor climbs hills better in 6th or 7th gear.

The GST is essentially an automated manual transmission. It has a multi-plate wet clutch that is automatically disengage and engage each time you shift. When you move the range lever, the clutch is disengage, one or more shift forks move and the clutch is reengaged. That is why there is a delay when shifting. The transmission goes into neutral when the clutch is disengaged so the tractor can briefly roll. You need to be mindful of this when shifting on hills. You should back off on the throttle some when shifting to prevent excessive wear of the clutch.
