GT 2544 Mower Belt Rubbing

Trying to repair a damaged GT 2544 deck. I made a new spindle mounting plate for the right side. No matter where I mock up the spindle, the belt rubs against the deck mounting bracket even with the drive pulley in the locked position. Thanks for the help. Stumped.

Are you sure you have the belt routed the right way?

Do you have the PTO-to-deck belt on the drive pulley? Without it pulling the drive pulley forward the deck belt will rub even with the spring arm in the latched position. Drove me nuts looking at it until I just hooked everything up and it magically worked.

So the side of the belt rubs against your fabed mounting bracket?


One possible option is to take an angle grinder and knock off a few thousandths ...then smooth it with sand paper etc.
