As far as Cub equipment ... the tiller is the only one I can think of that would use the sleeve hitch (most of it anyway). The tiller comes with the mount and lift actuator of the sleeve hitch (it doesn't actually use the sleeve portion).

Now that I have confused you (I think I confused myself too) the sleeve hitch can be used with a mold board plow, disc, cultivator, rakes, back blades, planters, etc. Brinley is a common name brand for these implements ... there is another but I can not think of it right now.

If you are handy with a welder (or have one and are just learning), are creative, and have access to some scrap steel ... you could dream up many things that could be attached to the sleeve hitch.

Agri-fab and Craftsman make many attachments also.

I just ordered one of the electric sleeve hitches from ebay ($349.99). I also picked up a agri-fab box scraper from lowes and at sears I ordered a crop cultivator.

I saw that listed as well. So the main advantage is that the ebay item will be able to lift up what ever it is attached to? Very confused on why you need one unless its to provide a better anchor for attachments.

It is similar to a three point hitch on a tractor. Think if you were trying to spread dirt with a blade. You would need to constantly move the blade up and down to achieve your goal. If you didn't have the sleeve hitch you wouldn't be able to. For the most part... if the attachment doesn't have wheels.. you need a sleeve hitch for it. Most attachments with wheels are meant to simply be pulled behind the tractor.

All this is new to me also... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Prior to my GT I had a LT1320 that mowed the grass and hauled alot of stuff in a cart.

I think the sleeve hitches also lock in place or use down pressure to help keep the implement in-contact with the soil.

The craftsman site has a few videos of some of the items being used.

I also ordered a Johnny Bucket, and that should arrive this week /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

e36m3, are you from CT? I live in the NE corner of CT.

Rocko,

I think you may be right about downward pressure. Yes, I am in southern CT.

Rocko - so how does the sleeve hitch work on the 2544? Worth the $ vs the manaul version?

I ordered the hitch Feb 3rd, I have not received it yet.

I sent him an email march 7th, he replied saying the hitch was ready for the paint booth and would go out in a day or two....I dunno what to tell ya...still no hitch yet.
