I have a 2004 GT2550 and I purchased the 341 snow thrower for it. I put the snow thrower on the tractor, and I can't get the belt on. It came with 2 belts, and I'm using the one that is the longest. Is the belt suppose to be this tight, and is there a trick to getting the belt on? The part # for the belt I'm using is 754-3075. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks, but mine came with a manual. I followed it closely, and have gone over it a few times since to see if I missed anything. I can get the belt on the blower spindle about half way. I can't get it to go any farther.

With the belt on halfway as you noted, can you turn the mechanism by hand to "roll" the belt on fully ?

I turned the spindle as much as I could to get the belt on halfway. I don't think it is suppose to be this hard.

Only key I see in the attachment manual is to thread the belt first before locking gearbox bracket anf engaging idler pulley to take up any belt slack.
If above is not involved, suggest taking that belt to a cub dealer or such to compare to other stock belts with same p/n to be sure belt you have isn't too short....

Thanks RCBE,

I tried putting the belt on without the gearbox bracket attached. No luck there, either. I measured the belt and I got 78 inches. I think the manual says 78.3 inches. The new belt they sell for these is 78.6 inches. I don't know if that would make a difference, but I guess I'll give it a try.

Now I also have to figure out why my PTO won't engage. The last time my wife mowed the grass the belt shredded, and now the PTO doesn't come on.

I guess it's time to take it to the shop.

Yeah - if that belt shredded, chances are it damaged the electric leads to the electric PTO. You might look around under there for such damage.
And mebbe yer shop/dealer can try another belt on that blower while in the shop...

Well, the service guy was able to get the belt on. He had to use a lot of muscle. So now I now that it will work if I rotate the spindle with all my might. Hopefully by next year it will have stretched out a little.

My PTO wasn't working because the 25 amp fuse was blown out. The fuse
blew out because the headlight wires were melted together. I snipped the wires, put in a new fuse and it fired right up.

All I need now is snow.
