Yea, I found the JD parts pretty quick. But they still don't tell me what's what, just says 'arm' or 'lever'. anyway, Wide lever on the right is the brake. horizontal lever in the middle is gear select. reverse being all the way forward then neutral, then your 6 speeds. With high being all the way to the rear. the little lever on the left and low, I don't know what it's for, other than unless you have it to the front, you cant change the gears. does not matter what position its in, when i turn the pulley the axles turn with it and no I cant hold them. Remember, I don't have a whole tractor, just the transaxle. I realize it is in no way a synchro-mesh transmission and you should be sitting still to change the gears. my plan is to use it for a 2 seat buggy to haul my lazy but around the pits at the racetrack. stock pulleys have this transaxle is 6.6 mph. if I can get 15 I am happy.
