I have a 10 year old GT275 that has been terrific and a few problems have popped up that need to be fixed. I am starting to tear into it and need some advice. Since all the problems have something to do with the operation, I will include them in this post in hopes of getting some problem solving tips.

1) I have an oil leak that seems to be originating from around the valve cover (or other seal on the front of the engine) and pools oil on the muffler while sitting. It burns off and I am good to go after about 5 minutes of running. Should I replace the valve cover gasket?

2) I have trouble starting when turning the key and it usually takes about 5-10 tries until it starts. Is it the ignition key switch?

3) The hood plastic piece is broken and I did review the other posts on this subject but wondered if there was other advice for bonding that may not have been included.

Thanks for taking the time to read over this post and offer advice.

I have a gt 235. A couple of years ago it got to where it would just click several times before actually starting. It turned out to be the starter solenoid. As to the hood I have fixed mine in several spots using two part plastic expoxy and scrap pieces of plastic on the under side. The key is to rough up both surfaces. I used an angle grinder.
